Hi :D did you miss us? |
Taken before land trials, we were in the 3rd detail. 715pm detail.
Land trials are usually split into different details because we are all leading different lives outside of trainings. The people from the earlier details usually are the one who are still schooling and therefore can come slightly earlier. All the working people usually reach the training grounds at 645-715 because of the standard working hours. The people from earlier details help to set up the weights and prepare the stations and start early, when they end, they help out with the rest who are in the later details.
This isn't fair to them? As a team, we would love for everyone to improve together and 'chopchop' finish everything and head home early together. Also they know that if the roles were to be reversed, we would do the same for them.
Trials this time around had lesser stations. Forgot what was the coach's rationale for removing Ergo but no one misses it :p
Stations in order:
2.4km run
Pullups
One rep max Bench Press
One rep max Bench Pull
40kg fixed Bench Press maximum reps
40kg fixed Bench Pull maximum reps
(500m ergo) (rest 4mins)
(200m ergo)
The ones in (bracket) are the 2 stations that were removed. Ergo without a doubt is probably the bane of our lives :X
For myself (Pam, as you can tell by the writing style), I did somewhat decently compared to the 2nd land trials where I was ranked bottom few.The final rankings are not out for this trial yet but I am sure I might have a chance not to be bottom few, any improvement is better than none.

This is the sight that greets us every night (: |
I can't speak for everyone else but for myself, what beats enjoying this sight with the other teammates who train to the death with you? It's been such a long time since I first set foot in Kallang and never, have I once regretted it.
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.
Also received this particular quote from a dear teammate awhile back when I was struggling to find myself when I got lost along the way:
Somewhere behind the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who've pushed you is the little girl who fell in love with the sport and never looked back.
It has struck me deeply and whenever I feel conflicted, I look at the picture and remind myself why I've been in this sport for the past decade. You must be thinking I am crazy but I can assure you I am not. It is the people who keep me going cause they are going through whatever I am struggling through as well and if they can do it, so can I. So can we. And we're all in this together.
