First official training for 2014 & gym updates :)
Hello wello jello ! I don't know if its just me or blogger/google accounts is being difficult, i've had such a hard time trying to log into my dashboard just to update my blogs and it hasn't been working for the past 2 days up till now - therefore, the late post. Ohwells, better late than never right :DDD And yes, for those of you who figured the different writing styles/tone, its JOS THE CATTTT - meowwww. Okay, back to topic. Monday morning gym @ One Raffles Quay Fitness First
Started off the day with bench press (trains mainly the chest and some other small muscles around your upper body (delts/ biceps/triceps) - i am no sports science students so don't expect me to share the exact terms like 'anterior deltoids' :P Did a 7.5kg/side - just returned to training after a holiday break, got to give it some time to increase our weights to our usuals. So yes, there's pam benching.
And then there's me :D Got to wear a wrist band for support as i tend to bend my wrist a lot when doing heavier weights and 'prevention is better than cure' - or at least for me the wrist band works so yes.
Had to find some way to do benchpull in the gym even though they do not really have a 'station' for it,
stole some weight plates to stack beneath the benches to give us more distance to work with. Am not too sure of the weights we used - fix barbells because the olympic bar was used up.
Shoulder press - starting with baby weights as well because we want to make sure the form is correct before adding on and building strength. What's the point of adding the plates without doing anything properly right? Right :D Personally, i have been doing more shoulder exercises since i started picking up weights/gym 3 years ago after i join Temasek Polytechnic Dragonboat Team so i guess my shoulders are slightly stronger and more defined than any other body parts (partially also due to the fact that i used to be really skinny =/).
For those who know me... i do not train my biceps at all. So doing Biceps Curl was a very painful thing for me, haha ! Did a 3.75kg/side and i can feel my biceps burn ... Pam on the other hand, picked up the weights and gave me the -.- look stating it was way too light - pfft.
Pam did a 5kg/side if you are wondering and i am pretty sure this is not her 80% effort ...
More to come next training :D
Walking lunges with weights after working our hands/upper body, i made Pam take 12kg because we did it before with the same weights (but she insist our maximum was only 10kg - either way we completed the programme with this weights so it shall stay :D) She seem like she's having fun lunging anyway :P
There's that for our first gym programme that we are sharing,
did a couple of pullups & hanging leg raises but we were too tired to take pictures
(or rather too tired to take nice pictures), so we'll leave those out for now.
Simple exercises can make a good workout - and you don't need to go heavy, if you've never lifted weights before - you can always start off with empty bars (we all got to start somewhere ~ ).
Girls being girls, started camwhoring after our shower and delaying time to get to work ... (not a very good example to learn from). Heyhey, but we get our job done in time so yes, stop judging :D And yes, in case you are wondering, both of us are working in the CBD area, Raffles Place MRT station soooo if you happen to see anyone in a dress and er hugeass purple duffle north face gym bag - it's probably me :>
Food prep for today because ... i am sick of eating hawker food and even the fish soup has so much MSG in it i have to drink like a litre of water after that (no kidding, and of course not in my gulp i am not a water tank). Had salad (packed and washed - just grab them from cold storage) with balsamic vinaigrette (simply because i do not take any other dressings that are creamy and thick - like thousand island etc etc. Also had tuna - with sunflower oil - not the healthiest alternative but i haven't had time to restock so yes, lunch is settled :D Pam knew i MAJOR LOVE the sugar bread from Delifrance so everytime she walks past on her way to the gym - and they happen to sell she will get it for me (awwww so sweet - no i'm serious !).
Back to Kallang for our first official training as a team, and boy, do i miss this place :D
Can't wait to get my hands on my paddle again, abandoned it for way too long due to the break =/
Okay, its pretty late, shall update again soon.
