EAT LIFT ROW

Happy Chinese New Year folks ;)

This was taken after Tuesday's training :>
Snapped a shot just before we were going off.
January has come to an end and we have been focusing a lot on land training,
land trials this sunday,
not too sure what to expect but i'm still as nervous as shit ...

Walk into Kallang - for those who always train there,
sometimes walking into the bunk is really frustrating because there is no other way in -
unless one takes a cab or drives a car pfft.
But for the majority of us - yes we see this route pretty often
(and the other bulk will come in from Nicoll Highway).
Quiet evening, nobody just ended training,
guess the season hasnt started for most,
MR500 soon so i reckon its gonna be one hell of a crowd over the weekends.

Second lunch this week, haha, slacking away because CNY is near,
oh my what a lousy excuse ..
Baobei forgot her shoes and she needed to buy something from town so we just headed over,
SHIOK MAKI FOR LUNCH:D
Because er, she hasnt tried - only tried madnest (which i havent tried) so yea ...

Baobei staring intently at every page of the menu deciding what to have
ON TOP of the shiok maki that we are sharing/have already ordered ..

Patiently (not really) waiting for our food to arrive,
was allocated the seats by the sushi bar/counter but we're not complaining,
didnt have to wait for the queue at all :D

Just a snapshot of the counter//
look at ALL the sashimi *inserts double heart eyed emoji*

Just look at the lovely sushi :>
A little pricey though, $16.80 for 8 pieces, but I SAY WORTH IT !!!

Definitely one of my favourite jap dishes as well - SUKIYAKI w beef.
Never going to be sick of this dish, but the soup base is a little salty,
and anything that is tasty is usually unhealthy so i think,
i better,
stay,
off,
this,
and not eat it too often :(

Salmon salad for this girl -
crazy woman, forever having salad because she loves veggies.
And i - on the contrary hate it,
but i will still choose to have it occasionally because mommy says,
i have to eat some veggie or i will get constipation =/
And kids, just look at the difference in our complexion and you will know why adults always say veggies are good for your body and your skin - haha.
Tested & proven.
PS: That girl doesnt even use facial wash and she gets flawless looking skin, jelly much.

Unagi hotplate - another one of my favourite and also baobei's favourite,
BUT i didnt order it this time round AND
it was served with lots of onions in the egg (and OIL),
its as if the oil is free so that crazy girl starting blotting her egg with tissue paper ...

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar is located at the topmost floor of Wisma,
beside food republic & DinTaiFung so yes,
just look out for this and you are at the right place for some
SHIOK MAKI :>

Thought the food was great but the service... not that good.
Took awhile before someone came over to take our orders,
and when i asked the 'cleaner' to take my order at first,
she just brushed me off - you could have told me to wait for the other girl ... or something.
Sigh// whats becoming of the service standards in singapore.

Full with sushis eels and cows swimming in our bellies.
Satisfied with a good lunch & off for shopping, haha.

---

How can i forget to post some fitness updates ..
Just some snapshots of the equipments in the ORQ FF that we frequent,
went to gym alone on tuesday, so its just pictures of equipments :X

Started off with benchpress and am pretty glad i can take on 40kg on olympic bar without support,
and comfortably to complete my programme -
gotta buck up a lot more if i want to hit 100% bodyweight or more.
So that is about 20 more kg to go.
Slowly but surely ...

Mats set out for stretching or core exercises.
Vups - and i cant seem to coordinate my hands & legs ... really bad.

Stacked the bench on top of the stepping board & weights for a higher lift off the floor to do benchpull -
taught by ZL & Pam - definitely not as high as the one we do in kallang,
but this will suffice for my lunchtime workout.
Benchpull. Not too sure of the empty bar weight but should be around 6kg+/-.
Did a 20kg/side.

SPOT ME SPOT ME :D

One of my weaker stations - bicep curl
6.25kg/side.
Even though there was a proper seat for the exercise,
but i think i prefer standing up -
harder to control as i might end up swinging a bit but i guess i just have to control the movement.

Forgot about my lunges :(
But yes, i do work on my ginormous legs -
even though i used to skip legs day often last time -
and got ?!?! at by Hayden haha when we were randomly chatting in Kallang.
ANYWAYS,
since i have elephant legs - used a 16kg dumbbell for my weighted lunges.

And medicine ball throw with myself after that ...
...
...
okay just kidding you didnt think i was serious ?
Did medicine ball TWIST with myself haha.

And that concludes my lonely tuesday gym session.

---
New year new kicks ... NOT YET :(
Have been wearing this pair of trusty old nike training shoes for 3 years now,
and i think it has served me well,
will be getting my new shoes soon - hopefully in PINK :P
Bought this pair of shoes originally thinking i wouldnt run often -
this is a pair of cross training sports shoe - NOT running -
and ended up doing 42km/21km/10km/5km/2.4km/2km/1km in these.
The base is entirely worn off and there is no more friction,
which explains why i haven't  been doing leg presses and all,
so yes - new shoes - a need and not a want.

New socks & ipod shuffle for the new year though :D
Preloaded some remixes in last night and i cant wait to go through em'
while working out or running.

Before and after my run -
got to admit my tummy bulge is slightly worst off now -
havent been watching what i eat recently and its showing :(
SO KIDS, YOU ARE WHAT EAT.
Don't eat macdonalds often and expect to lose that extra bulge at your tummy area.
Since i'm at it, just a reminder to all that there is NO such thing as spot reduce.
Your body loses weight in an overall manner -
and to make sure your abs are visible your entire body fat have to be low -
so even if you crunch 1000 times you might not get your abs.

Personally, i have an average bodyweight percentage i must say.
My problem areas are my lower belly & legs =X
Will do a photo comparison and explain all these in another post (with le baobei).
So its not easy to see abs even if i were to do core exercises on a daily basis,
i have to do cardio or HIIT workout AND watch my diet to cut away excess fats.
So yes, long way to go but the year has just started.

January is coming to an end after tonight,
and we all have 11 more months to work on our fitness goals.
Keep going & never give up -
everytime you want to give up, think of why you started in the first place,
i always use this to motivate myself,
and i am sure you can too :)

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE OUT THERE,
especially to friends and loved ones who are overseas,
take care of yourself and have a good holiday !

xoxo

PS: Promise to bring you more rowing related post in the near future ;)
We might be featuring some teams around locally too,
so if you are looking for a team to join,
keep a look out for our post/updates !
Cheers.

DID ANYONE MISS US

Hihi! Apologies for the lack of updates recently :(  Been really busy over the weekend and i fell sick on sunday (BOO to no training). Morale of the story: Do not overwork yourself and have sufficient water & sleep :)

No pictures from gym last week - same old programme, maybe different number of sets and different percentage, definitely am carrying heavier than when we started off the first week of 2014 so yes, might post a monthly update/ progress report when the month is over/ after trials (yes talking about trials we have a land one this coming sunday - DURING CNY - which simply means byebye bakwa and pineapple tarts and hello gym).

Lunch date with the baobei yesterday, hopped on the train and headed to BUGIS from RAFFLES because the programme wasnt out and yes, other than gymming all day we actually lead normal girl lives like shopping and eating haha.

Yup, Itacho Sushi @ Bugis Junction (basement) for lunch - and it was a lunch treat from the baobei because she was in a good mood and feeling generous haha (or more likely the fact that she is getting her pay today :P)

Baobei checking the receipt to ensure they charge us correctly - kids out there please remember to check your receipts, i have receive a lot of receipts that arent mine before so yes.

Some soy sauce thingy salmon sushi which taste DAMN FRIGGIN GOOD - and the best part ... ITS ONLY FORTY CENTS - YES, SI MAO . hahhahha, but they limit it to 2 pieces/ pax =/  Guess the only downside to this place is the slightly higher range of prices for their food (without promotion - the lunch sets were reasonable). And they sell their sushi PIECE BY PIECE - so if you see salmon sushi for $2.60 - yes its only for one piece (and not your usual two).

Salmon Don for the baobei - LOOK AT ALL THOSE SASHIMI - and it cost less than $15 bucks for sure, forgot the exact price and yes this is the lunch set i am referring to (so next time when you go to a restaurant please see those pamphlet thingy menu first before you dive into the main menu haha)  *cheapos* *eh being realistic here okay*

For those who know me pretty well - UNAGI IS MY FAVOURITE JAP FOOD - and this unagi don has to be one of the best i've eaten - mainly because the egg was really well cooked - its a little runny so it taste especially good with the rice (well i picked out all the onions though =/) AND ITS $13 !!!

Shopped around Bugis Junction and Bugis+ - no pictures because my phone was running outta batt :(
But yes, here's a picture to sum off our lunchtime (and she says the shimmer thingy is gay - judgemental ... dont you think its pretty !)

Haha, okay enough rubbish.
Currently stealing the computer in the gym because my office is a bitch and they blocked blogger :(
So yup, okay back to my workout !
Nuff rest, toodles.

Will update soon, exciting events coming up ...
TRIALS
CNY GATHERING
MORE ROWING
MORE GYM

which means
MORE TRAINING
NEW CLOTHES
BETTER TECHNIQUE IN TIME TO COME
STRONGER BODY

lets go !

Let's Take A Little Trip Around Singapore Town (on our own two legs)

30km worth of mileage to clear for running. So what do two little (ok not that little I know...) girls do?
They:
1. meet in the gym
2. wear their shoes
3. put on their shades
4. stare longingly at the weights
5. flash a look of disgust at the treadmills
6. take the lift down and out of the air conditioned building and out under the blazing sun D: oh the horror.

Yea so that's us, in the gym and er. out under the hot sun D':

So we begin this little trip around the bay area. Been posting pictures of different kinds of exercises that we do but have never shown you guys that we actually DO run, as much as we dislike to. A given program is a program we have to clear we just gotta do what we gotta do~

The sight that greeted us.

Spotted 5 grown ups sitting in a row and having their lunch HAHAHA how cute! But why under the sun?

Looooooooooooong road ahead of us :C

So yes, there is me running LOL pictorial evidence! :p

Heheheh Jos handed the camera over to me from here on because I complained about her photo taking skillz. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO SEE HERE? TREE(TRUNK)S OR BUILDINGS LOLOL hehehe still love you bbg <3

This is my artsy fartsy shot LOL lone lotus HAHAHAHA was bugging Jos to take picture of the lotuses at the Art Science Museum but she didn't want to so I got my chance when I took over the camera LOL

Errrr.... ya that's Jos.... *speechless* hehehe :p
By this time, we had only ran about 1km hahaha sure felt like it took forever to reach MBS lol tortoises, we are. Anyway, it's not often we get to run this route so we spent some time taking a little bit of pictures. Okay, I take that back. It's quite abit of pictures. What????? My choice of words still unacceptable? Fine, we took alot of pictures. Happy? You just had to force me to say that.

After MBS, we ran up the Helix Bridge. Usually when we row, we row under it and past it so it's new/different kind of feeling for us to be on top looking down instead.

And yes, that's Jos running. See, I told you we were running!
View from Helix across to CBD

Yupp, right at the end of the Helix Bridge is the Youth Olympics Park LOL just being a little touristy here.

Flyer at the background hahaha when we run to flyer from our bunk, it's about 6km LOL

Turning left and back to CBD, sight of hotels.

CNY is coming, so there is gonna be a fair at the Floating Platform area! Rides for the kids!

Running alongside the water, towards Esplanade.

Shuffling along too slowly so Jos came back to nag at me and of course, for another photo opp.

Colours by the Bay, food street in Esplanade I think

Sculptures at the end of the Esplanade. Almost back...
On the Esplanade bridge! (THE END IS NEARRRRRRRRRR) (not really)

Ice creammmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No $$, no ice cream ):

View from Fullerton area. Not too long ago, we were just opposite!

MBFC

CBD area.

We're back!!!!! :D

Jos said we looked too happy in the previous photo so must retake :/

Finally back in the gym! (what did I tell you about her photo taking skills?)
Cleared our medicine ball and did lots of stretching! Love doing med ball with Jos because we have this weird telepathy and we almost never ever drop the ball. We get in our rhythm fast and we keep it there. Okay, not sure how to explain it but you gotta experience it to know it!

After gym/med ball
Okay, this concludes the end of a very picture-filled post (to make up for the lack of pictures in the previous post lah okay?) Also, the whole run + gym session took about 1hr15mins HAHAHAHA typing this post took way longer than that! The run may seem long with that much pictures but it only lasted 25mins max. Okay gotta go, work is calling. And there's still training later :D I could get used to this whole seeing my teammates almost daily thing. Oh wait, I am already used to it that's why I was complaining when training halted HAHAHAHA. Toodles.

“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”
